Montana De Luz started as a hospice for children in Honduras suffering from HIV/AIDS. It now serves as an orphanage for children surviving with AIDS and HIV. In 2012 my wife joined a service trip to MDL and her life was changed.
In the spring of 2013 my birthday gift to Court was another trip to Honduras to visit MDL. A part of that gift was that I would accompany her on the trip. I wanted experience this thing that had become so important to her. It turned out to be a gift to myself. From the moment the car door opened I was hit by the loving acceptance and positive energy at the place.
I had heard that there was a lot of singing at MDL and so being a musician I hatched a scheme to record the children of MDL. With the help of long-term volunteer Jarrett Piette we produced these recordings over three days.
Our work provided me the opportunity to interact with the kids in a way that I could not have done otherwise. It also yielded some nice recordings of the spirited if untrained voices of the kids at MDL.
The individual stories of these children are incredible, as is the story of Montana De Luz from its founding to its present day success. Like nearly every charitable organization, there is never enough time or money to do all the good that needs doing. Your support through the purchase of this CD or download will help MDL with the realization of their mission.
